The Wicked Collection

I'm reading the final book in the Wicked series and felt inspired to create an ode to the books with nail polish.  Two named for the main characters,  Elphaba and Glinda , and two based on important pieces of the story.  Dorothy's Ruby Slippers and The Yellow Brick Road.

From left to right,  Ruby Slippers, Glinda, Elphaba, and Yellow Brick Road.  All are glitter based and three are a clear base.  More details are below with each picture.

I'm giving you three different views of each polish.  From the left is Ruby Slippers over red.  In the centre I'm showing it two coats all alone.  Lastly I've shown it over silver.  I like it over the red.  It gives it more depth.

It's a tiny red hex mixed with a medium silver hex.  The base it totally clear and with my top coat has a nice smooth finish.

Glinda (the good witch ) is shown above over black on the left, on its own in the middle and over pink on the right.

Awesome over black!!  Glinda is a clear base full of irridescent white stars, hearts, hex and strip glitter.  Over black it looks like stained glass.

Elphaba is shown over black on the left, on its own in the center and over a light green on the right.

A deep dark green beauty , Elphaba ( the wicked witch ) is in a gel like green base with three sizes of green hex glitter and medium black hex, square and small hex.  It has great depth.

Yellow Brick Road is shown over black on the left, on its own in the middle, and over yellow on the right.

OK.......FREAKIN AMAZING !!!!!   I wasn't going to make this one but I thought I needed an ode to the Yellow Brick Road.  I'm so glad I grabbed the irridescent yellow hearts, stars, stips and hexs'.  This beauty is the winner of the batch.  It's in a clear base and smooth when my top coat is applied.

This collection is a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.  Let me know what you think at http://www.facebook.com/DuplicatesByD  or at https://twitter.com/#!/DuplicatesByD

Gotta go do my own nails now!!  What to wear ?

The Chocolate Collection

Relax.  Grab a snack.  I'm talking about nail polish.  Not the delicious treat.  I never thought it would be so hard to make the perfect brown polish.  When I finally was happy with the brown I discovered that I couldn't just add white to lighten it.  It turns purple. ( I now have about 10 bottles of various shades of purple.)  The lighter nudes were a bigger challenge.

My Milk Chocolate is in the middle.  I darkened white with it and came up with Milk Chocolate on the left.  On the right the Cream Chocolate is done with different colour powders in white.

You can see the subtle difference between the outer two in the above picture.  I really like Cream Chocolate myself.  It looks very nude and natural.  They're all shown with 2 coats and of course my amazing top coat to finish them off.

I think these are the perfect colours for the person who wants the more natural subtle look.  Let me know what you think and come visit me at http://www.facebook.com/DuplicatesByD  or https://twitter.com/#!/DuplicatesByD

As Promised

If you look back at my post " Salt & Peppa" you'll see that I promised you a choice of white and black shapes for my polish customized by you.  You pick the shapes and the colours and I mix it to your specs.

From left to right........diamonds, strips, medium hex, small hex, small squares, medium squares, and lastly, large squares.  It's the same order top and bottom.  Have fun with this one and create your own mix !!

Trashed

An appropriate name for a glitter top coat that matches my green cart, blue box and black garbage can.  I guess it's an ode to my hubby the garbage man. lol.  In truth hubby was driving me nuts about the colours of our garbage cans the other day and they kind of stuck with me.  Have to admit,  they look great together.

Below is Trashed in inside light.  From left to right.....on its own,  over purple, then green, blue and lastly over black.  Each different colour gives it such a different look and brings out the different colours and shapes.

Here are the same swatches in the same order in outside natural light.

I know there's black glitter in Trashed but I'm loving it over the black polish.  Here's a CRAZY close up of it over the black.  You can see the gel like depth.  So sweet.

How can you not love it !!

Now......what would a nail polish called Trashed be if it wasn't packed for you in a bin.  Yep.......just had to do it.

Hope you enjoyed.  Come visit me at http://www.facebook.com/DuplicatesByD  or at https://twitter.com/#!/DuplicatesByD

Salt & Peppa

Very excited about this polish.  I got my FedEx delivery today and went straight to creating.  All the bits in this polish are not actually glitter.  They're flat shapes.  Makes this polish unusual and one of the most fun ones I've made yet.

How great is that !!  There's a mix of white and black squares, hexagons and rhombus' of all shapes and sizes.  I've shown it over some bright colours of mine that I thought would show it off the best.

Both of the above pics are taken inside with regular lighting.  The next few are indoors as well.

How's this for a great close up.  I'm impressed with me.  lol

The above is two coats of Salt & Peppa and believe it or not it has a smooth feel.  I topped it with my top coat of course.

The next few pics are taken outside in natural light.  I know this is picture heavy but I can't seem to stop looking at it.

Dinner With the Count

This polish makes me smile.  It's different.  It's dark.  It's fun.  It's classy.  It's mine.  :D

The base is a sheer red (but not too sheer. )with a red shimmer.  I added bits of flat black shapes.  Then went in the red rhombus and tinsel.  It makes a wonderful and fun mix.

As you can see it's a great and unusual mix up. I've shown it here with 2 coats and 1 coat of my amazing top coat.  It has a smooth finish and it's also easy to remove because it's not glitter heavy.

This polish is for all ages .  I plan on wearing it this week myself !
Hope you enjoyed and come see me at http://www.facebook.com/DuplicatesByD  or at https://twitter.com/#!/DuplicatesByD

50 Shades of Pink......or just 4 for now....

I'm not one to wear pink so I have to really listen to what people want in a pink polish.  Someone said to me today that it's hard to find a good pink that matches their skin tone.  Makes sense.  I came home and decided to create some different pinks with different bases.  Good for any skin tone.

Here goes.........

From left to right.....

Made with a red base and lightened slightly with white, this one is very pink.  Good for that skin tone that can do the reds.
Next is a pink done with a green base.  Yep.  You read that right.  Making it with a green base gives it more of a rose look.  Good for us paler folk.  lol
Next pink is made with a brown base.  Very good for darker skin tones.
Lastly , I wanted to do a nude with a pink base.

Hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed making them.

The Seven Deadly Sins Collection

Thought the name would get you reading.  I wanted to make a collection more in tune to the nail polish I wear everyday.  I love the darker colours and wanted to make a collection just for me.  It's for sale of course but they're also going to be part of my personal collection.  So here they are:

From left to right....Wrath, Greed, Sloth, Pride, Lust, Envy and Gluttony.  All black based and done with a shimmer, not a glitter.  They are all shown using 2 coats and go on very smooth.  I didn't use a top coat for the swatches but I will when I'm wearing them.

Wrath is a black base with a beautiful red shimmer.  In a couple of the shots you can see the red shimmer but it was a fight with the camera to get a good shot.  It looks like a glitter but I promise you it isn't .  It goes on smooth and has a great gloss finish.

Greed is an amazing green.  I'm not usually not a fan of the greens but this one I absolutely love.  It is in a black base and is actually a mistake.  It was supposed to be a blue but turned out to be a happy accident.  It has a great depth to it with only 2 coats.

Sloth is a gunmetal silver.  A black base again with a sterling pigment.  Glitter free and smooth application.  I've always liked the silvers so this one will be one that I wear a lot of.

Pride is a purple/blue colour morphing pigment in a black base.  It was very difficult to show the purple of this polish with the camera but it is amazing to look at .

Lust is actually an orange shimmer pigment in a black base.  It looks like a glitter but doesn't have that rough feel.  What the camera couldn't catch is the different shimmers this has.  You can see orange, green and yellow in the polish.  It has great coverage and it's a smooth application.

Envy is the wildest colour I've created.  I'm not sure I can even explain it.  It's a yellow powder pigment in a black base but it has this eerie yellow/gold glow to it.  It has an unbelievable shine and gloss and I'm totally in awe of its beauty.

Gluttony ( I know.  The name is ......odd )  is a perfect blue in a black base.  It has a metallic shine to it  that makes it stand out from the rest,  I do love my blues almost as much as my blacks.

Now , of course I had to do a colour wheel showing you all of my new colours with my Gasoline Dreams top coat so here goes.!

From left to right at the top is my collection as seen at the start of my post.  The bottom is in the exact order from left to right but with my beauty of a top coat.

I'm very happy with my Seven Deadly Sins collection and I hope it was worth the wait.  My biggest issue right now is what colour to wear !!

Black Tie Affair

Just a quick blob with this polish.  I wanted a glitter with a bit of class so I came up with this one.  It's a black gloss base with extra fine glitter.  Very easy but very high end looking.

As you can see in the next picture I'm showing the example with only 1 coat and no base coat.  Of course I added a top coat to give it a softer looking finish.

I know it's not the usual fun stuff I've been making lately but sometimes I have to act my age  :)

Good Public School Memories

There's 2 things I remember about public school that always cheered me up.  Recess and after school cartoons.  Yep....I wasn't into the learning part of my education back then.  I decided to do some glitters that make me happy like that.

The first pics are of After School Cartoons.

It's a mix of large and small glitters.  The large are fushia, turquoise and green.  The small ones are sapphire blue and red.    It's a fun mix in a suspension clear polish.

From the left I'm showing it over a blue, then red, then green and finally all on it's own.  I really like it solo myself.  It has enough glitter that it gives a good coverage.  I also topped it with my wonder quick dry top coat.  :)

Just as much fun as After School Cartoons.  Maybe more ?

Next polish is also a glitter in a clear suspension base.  This one has the large fushia, green  and turquoise glitters and  small sapphire blue and silver.

This one is a bit brighter than the other and I call it Recess.  In the above picture you are seeing it from the left by itself , then over green,  then red and finally blue.  I love the way the turquoise looks in this one.

Two great glitters .  I can't decide which one I like more.  Let me know what you think.

Kitty gLitter

Gotta love that name.  lol   There's a reason for it.  It's a white iridescent glitter mix of everything wonderful.

There's hearts , stars, squares, rhombus, strips, hexagons and a surprise circle somewhere in there too.  Because of the iridescence it looks all kinds of crazy colours.

Considering all the goodness packed into this polish it isn't too thick on the nail.  You will of course need a good top coat though.  It's bigger glitter and it does have a  tendency to lift a bit.

The above is an extreme close up just to show you the crazy shapes in this Kitty Glitter and the pic below is a clearer nail pic but I don't know why it's blue.  Shocked the camera ??

Hope you enjoy this one as much as I do.  Happy Nails and come visit me at  http://www.facebook.com/DuplicatesByD   or at  https://twitter.com/#!/DuplicatesByD
