After a lot of testing and playing with different suspension bases for glitter, not to mention testing numerous glitters and flakes for bleeding and melting I have finally come up with the base I want.
Thanks to Aerosil R 972 I have the perfect base for glitter. Of course I had to share it with you all.
I filled half of the bottle with a clear polish and filled the rest with the aerosil powder. I shook it until my arms fell off and it didn't seem to dissolve . Very disappointing. I walked away from it to figure out something else. After 2 hours on google I went back to my clumpy mixture in a bottle. To my delight it had all dissolved. No clumps. No discolouring. Perfection. In went the gold glitter flakes. After 4 days the glitter was still suspended and no discolouration.
I still want to try one more powder that is easier to get in Canada but I'm very happy with these results.
I've used a black base so you can see the gold flakes better. From the left.......the nail shown has one coat of my flakie. The nail in the middle has 2 coats. The last nail is 2 coats but I played with it and moved the flakes around while it was wet.
It's priced the same as my glitter . You can see all of my polishes and info at http://www.facebook.com/DuplicatesByD
See you there !!!
